HOKS (Helping Our Kids Suceed) Tutoring/ Mentoring Program
Currently suspended for the 2011-2012 school year.
Our tutoring program usually runs from early October to mid-March, with the goal of one-on-one attention to help each 1st-3rd grade student who is referred by their school.
Reading is so very important to our everyday living experience. We have a great opportunity here at our own church to help a child learn to read. The one-on-one approach not only helps the children to improve in reading skills but also to have someone share his/her time with the student. Men of grandparent age often play an extra special role with the boys, providing a positive male role model.
We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:30-4:00 pm. Tutors do not need to be members of the church and may serve both days, one day, or as a substitute. All tutors are required to go through a child protection screening process.
